Since the start of the 2009 season, Alex Hales has played regularly for Nottinghamshire 1st XI and made a century (106) against Ireland in The Friends Provident Trophy in May 2009.
Gemaal Hussain has signed a two year (2009 and 2010) professional contract with Gloucestershire. After many years of perseverance and rejection by some counties (after extended trial periods), Gemaal has been rewarded for his determination and improved performance.
Adrian Shankar has returned from a pre-season injury at Lancashire to start his new playing career after signing a two year contract in the winter of 2008/9.
David Burton (who played in our Founder’s Day at Lord’s in 2005 when Alex Hales scored 55 off one over), was selected for Middlesex 1st XI in the County Championship match against Gloucestershire at Bristol on June 18-21, 2009 after extensive trials at several Counties. David recorded excellent figures of 18.2 overs, 2 maidens, 5 wickets for 68 runs in Gloucestershire’s first innings.
Jamie Hoddle has been selected to play for Berkshire 1st XI in the Minor Counties Trophy in 2009, and has also signed for Middlesex Academy for the next 18 months from April 2009. Jamie has been part of our Player Development Programme for 14-17 year-olds, launched by Monty Panesar at Lord’s in the winter of 2008/9.

Morteza Ali from Afghanistan made his debut in First-Class Cricket on April 11,12,13 at The Parks for Oxford University UCCE versus Worcestershire.
Tim Linley has secured a contract with Surrey CCC until the end of the 2009 season and made his first team debut in the Twenty/20 competition recently after some excellent performances for Surrey 2nd XI.

Darren Stevens all round excellence for Kent has seen him dominate the Twenty20 format for Kent as well as produce some scintillating Championship performances with the bat as he helps Kent in their bid to regain their status as a 1st Division club.
Nick Compton scored 100 not out at Lord’s for Middlesex v Surrey last week to add to the superb one day century he made against Kent at Canterbury earlier in the season while his opening partner Billy Godleman has produced some good performances in the Twenty20 and County Championship after a recent spell of excellent form in the 2nd XI which included back to back centuries.
Dawid Malan continues to impress in all forms of cricket for Middlesex while Yorkshire’s Joe Sayers scored his second Championship century of the season last week at Taunton in the thrilling Division One match where Somerset scored 479 for 6 to win in the fourth innings after Joe had made 152 for Yorkshire in their second innings of the match.
