London County : The Cricket Club

London County Colts

In 2010, we will be piloting the London County Colts Programme to support the development of talented Under 13 year olds who want to play quality cricket on good grounds. A specific focus for our Invitation XI, will be talented ‘all-rounders’ who are gifted in many areas of their life. As a result of their diverse abilities, there is a possibility that involvement with other professional sports (such as Rugby and Football Academies) or academic/family commitments, may be limiting their involvement with the best cricket opportunities available with County Cricket Clubs. Our intention is to provide an informal process for such gifted ‘all-rounders’ to benefit from a quality cricket experience as well as the opportunity to be ‘scouted’ by a leading professional club should they excel in the matches and Player Development Workshops. Even if boys go on to play top-level sport in another discipline, London County’s intention is to offer them experiences which help to generate and appreciation of Cricket and may help to engender a deep love for the game, which may prove a welcome distraction for them when they are busy with excelling in another field.

Our intention (as with all of our Cricket activity) is to be independent of but complementary to the ECB County system.
