Judging the Finals were Neil Burns (Chief Executive London County Cricket Club and former-Leicestershire, Somerset and Essex wicket keeper/batsman), Vince Wells (former-England, Leicestershire, Durham and Kent all rounder), Joe Sayers (Yorkshire opening batsman and former-England under 19 captain) and Billy Godleman (Middlesex opening batsman and England under 19). Supporting the judges were Paul Carter (Director of Operations of London County Cricket Club), Hemal Randerwala (London County Development Squad) and Harrison Wells.
The morning session involved a further round of bowling 12 balls at a set of stumps. At the lunchtime the assessors decided who would be invited to join the afternoon group while the competitors and their families were taken on a free tour of Lord's by an official tour guide. The 2006 winner Sachin Vaja said a few words to the group about how he had entered the competition in 2005 and not won, but came back better and stronger in 2006 to not only win the competition but also be awarded with the Jim Laker Scholarship and be part of the ECB winter bowling camp in Mumbai.
The judging got tougher in the afternoon session as a further round of bowling at stumps took place before the assessors had the difficult task of narrowing the group down. In the end 19 bowlers were asked to stay for the next round which involved bowling two overs, one at Joe Sayers and then one at Billy Godleman. This enabled the judging to take place from different viewpoints, and for the batsmen to compare the calibre of each bowler to those they face daily on the the county circuit.
In a change of pace, the final group undertook a short individual interview with top Performance Coach Frances Goodman.
The assessment panel reviewed the results to determine who would be offered a place on the tour in the West Indies in October. The list of those invited is:
- Badal Naik (Lord's)
- Mohammed Pardesi (Leicester)
- Amar Rashid (Old Trafford)
- Kyle Tanner (Ipswich)
- Rishi Verma (Lord's)
First Reserve : Jack Baber (Bristol)
